Recently I saw a video which suggest to count your blessings while showing a list of miseries in this world. The message is not how we can and should remove such miseries but: “look at all the miseries out there, so stop complaining and start counting your blessings”. Well, the ‘stop complaining’ part I can agree with, nagging for more and more is just desiring for more and its endless. What bothered me about the video is the “count your blessings” part. Some FB friends were commenting ‘how blessed they are etc” (obviously comparing them to those suffering souls in the video). And some even went to say “its all karmic payback time” meaning they earned their hell while “I earned and deserve my luxury”. Wow, that must be the most evil of spirituality. Anyways.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to ‘count my blessings’ at the misery of others.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to use poor people and their destitute life situations as an indication of how greatly blessed I am by the GOD almighty, who is so nice to me and not so nice to those poor people.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe in the nonsense that “karmic law is the reason why poverty exist in this world, therefore I cannot do anything about it, and that’s the way things are and should continue to be”.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that I have been blessed so much, while those that starve in this world are being less blessed by a not so less benevolent GOD, hence the poor bastards must pay their dues, and learn their karmic lessons by eating from garbage cans, while I enjoy my life of luxury given the GOD almighty.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to justify poverty in the name of GOD and his laws of karma, but never ever ask the question “how we can eliminate poverty, and create a world where the blessing of GOD is equally given to all”.
I forgive myself that I have accepted an allowed myself to ‘count my blessings’ every time I see a poor person, because this poor person is an evidence of how greatly GOD has blessed me which helps to keep the poverty as it is.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see/realize my ‘blessing’ is a reason why poverty exist in the first place, because instead of creating a system of equality, I have taken more than my share just for myself and calling it a blessing while others get nothing and call it karmic lesson.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see/realize as long as even one child goes to sleep in hunger the blessings of GOD cannot exist in this world, so counting my blessings is pure evil.
I forgive myself for reacting to this video.
I forgive myself for wanting to blame and scold those FB friends who commented justifying poverty and karmic law etc, and further justifying why they will count their blessings after seen this video.
I forgive myself for not taking steps to eliminate poverty instead use poverty to count my blessings.
I forgive myself for not asking the question why a benevolent GOD would only want to bless me and not others (nearly 2/3 of this world population)?
I forgive myself for using religion and its laws to further justify and keep this system of abuse going, instead of investigating solutions like the #BasicIncome or the #LivingIncome, within this I see/realize I am a co-creator of this abuse system, hence it is my self-responsibility to take part in creating a solution.
I forgive myself for getting angry at the FB comments justifying ‘counting the blessings’, in this I see/realize me getting angry at them ain’t going to assist them to see the common sense of it. When as I see myself reacting to words that justify poverty in this world, I stop and I breathe, because I realize we are preprogrammed to keep things the way they are, so there is no point in reacting, instead I breathe and share what is common sense.
